As promised, here is part 2 of my blog about the end of my time on the field.

Jordan.

The land of shepherds, palm trees, hummus, and sand storms.

How do I even begin to retell my time in Jordan? It was an indescribable experience for me that the Lord used to further spark my heart for long-term missions in the Middle East. I genuinely believe that The Lord showed me a glimpse of the rest of my life while we were there. My team and I were there for the entire month of April during Ramadan, and I decided to extend my time there until the end of May to experience even more of the culture and continue relationships with the many friends I met.

Arabs are the most hospitable people I have ever met, always showering us with tea and coffee.

My team and I got connected with an incredible ministry there that focuses on ministering to the large refugee population of Jordan. My experience working with this ministry felt like the most wonderful conglomeration of cultures. I primarily worked among the women refugees there and it was so incredible seeing a new culture each day.

 The beautiful view of Jordan.

There were the beautiful giggles that come from the blue-eyed Circassian girls, the unique sing-song tunes emitting from the Egyptian women, the sweetest tea served by the most gorgeous Somali grandmothers, the captivating, vibrant dresses of the many Yemeni ladies, and so much more. For someone like me who finds so much joy in people watching, seeing all of these wonderful image-bearers buzzing around the city in harmony was truly something so special.

The welcome mat reads, “marhaba” which means welcome/hello!

I loved getting to break fast with the families we met. I loved how incredibly hospitable Arabs are. I love how many opportunities we had to get to love those around us and be loved by those around us. I will cherish the interactions we had with each of the people we encountered and all the friends we made forever.

Now here we are. I’ve been back in the United States for two months, and The Lord has continued to open doors for me and given me an opportunity and deep passion to go back out on the field. I believe the Lord used my time in the 10/40 window to further ignite this immense desire to pursue those who have never heard the name of Christ. I am now preparing to pursue long-term missions in the Middle East.  I hope to leave the United States in September, and I am so excited.

Saying goodbye (as far as I know) to my time with the World Race and life as I know it comes with a unique kind of hurting. In certain moments, I feel gut-punched with grief thinking of everything I’m saying goodbye to. In other moments, and most of the time, I am overjoyed at the thought that the Lord would continue to use my “yes” to minister to those around me, no matter where I am. I know that obeying the Lord and following after Him as best as I can is the best thing I can do with my life. I am so excited to begin this journey.

I love you all. Thank you for joining me on this wild ride for the past 4 years.

Peace and Love,

Kori Moon
