In December of 2019, I got home from team leading for the World Race. I had just spent the last two and a half years of my life pursuing overseas missions, growing my faith, trust, and dependence in the Lord, partnering with the Spirit to lead others to the Lord, and cultivating a desire in me to help others in many ways. Ultimately it was my desire to see people set free, and for them to learn to love themselves and others well by knowing the love of the Father. When I got home that December, I remember thinking that I had NO IDEA what I wanted to do with my life, but I knew I trusted God. A few months later, I got a job and not long after that, I started attending college (those who know me well know how shocking that statement is). I decided I wanted to major in psychology with hopes of becoming a therapist! Therapy is a tool that transformed my life, brought healing perspective, and changed how I interacted with those around me. I was determined to become a therapist to give that help and knowledge to others the way it had been given to me. I remember taking courses last semester in trauma response and thinking how pivotal this information was in the lives of myself and others! Fast forward to this summer, as I’m getting ready to sign up for classes like I had done each semester before, and I hear about this trip that the World Race is doing in the new year.

While at the World Race campus volunteering in the kitchen this summer, I heard about a semesters trip to the 10/40 window to the Middle East to share the gospel, work alongside refugees, and get certified in traumatology courses with Green Cross. My heart immediately felt a tug to find out more information, but I pushed it into the back of my mind. As the weeks progressed, I kept having thoughts and dreams about this trip. I knew I wanted to go, but I also thought of how settled I had become in the past year- moving into a house with one of my best friends, attending college, having great community around me, and having a stable job. Did I really want to give that up?

I think by the title of this blog you’ve probably figured out what I chose. After prayerful consideration, I’ve decided to go and follow Jesus through this experience! In January I will start my month of training in Gainesville, GA before heading out to the nations for three months. I am incredibly excited to see what the Lord will do, and am overflowing with joy and peace. Historically, I’m not the most go-with-the-flow type of woman, so to have tremendous peace about going out into unfamiliar parts of the world is a huge blessing and further confirmation about going. I am stoked!

I understand that going to this part of the world can seem dangerous, foolish, or poorly timed. I have counted the cost, and it is truly my desire to follow Jesus to the ends of the earth, and wherever He leads me. With that, I am asking for your prayers. In more ways than I can write on paper, my team and I will need all the prayers we can get.  We need prayer for the following things:  favor + wisdom throughout our entire journey, safe travels, expanded capacity to learn and be well-equipped before we go, for the hearts of those we will meet (to be tender and open to love, healing, and restoration), and for the Lord to provide for us everything we need to travel again safely.

Furthermore, with traveling again comes more fundraising. For this trip, I will need to raise $8,900. I have seen the Lord provide abundantly and I am confident that He will do it again. Would you pray and consider financially supporting me as I go into the nations? It is by your complete generosity and kindness that I am able to go at the capacity that I do. I am beyond blessed to have been graced with so much financial support over the years, and my words cannot thank you enough. I hope to raise $2,000 by my birthday (November 10th), and I am so hopeful for the Lord’s provision in my life and this trip!

Thank you all for taking time to read this, for your outpouring of prayers, for your financial partnership to advance the gospel in order to bring love to others, and for all the other ways you have partnered with me over the years. It is with all the love in my heart that I thank you deeply. Thank you. I love you all! Feel free to reach out and talk with me and ask any/all questions. May you experience peace, joy, and blessings today!

Love,

Kori.

  3. Wow, Kori,
You have come a long way since the first time we sat with you at your and our first debrief in Ecuador. We are so proud of you. We pray for divine connections, divinely inspired wisdom, and Holy Spirit words at just the right time. May you be led by His peace in accordance with Proverbs 3:5-8 and the patience derived from walking out James 1:2-4. May you rest confidently in Col 3:2-3 with the knowledge that where God guides He provides though often at the midnight hour in order to build your faith and the understanding of what it means to walk by it rather than sight.
    In Jesus’s Name! Maranatha.
