day in the life: ecuador free day edition

(edit: this was supposed to go up last week! due to spotty wifi and computer issues it’s late. sorry!!! okay carry on hehe)

day in the life: Ecuador free day edition (Sept 15, 2018)

  • I woke up at 7am for a devotional with my mentor Kate and a couple other racers. It was great!

  • at 8:30 we started chores which consisted of cleaning everyone’s room (except the boys because they get to sleep outside in tents haha)

  • at 9 we ate a breakfast that ended up being $7.50 in all for 10 people. go fresh food! we had bread and pineapple and grapes and strawberry marmalade and peppermint tea and coffee. it was delicious. unfortunately I spilled all of gail’s coffee :/ sorry gail.

  • from 11-12:45 I did construction in our back yard. we’re trying to build a house for the boys to sleep in (hence the tents) and it was actually really fun 🙂

  • at 1:30 my teammates Ella, Gracie, Abby, and I all headed to the shopping mall. we stopped on the way to get some passion fruit juice and chocolate snacks (ecuador’s chocolate is the best btw) to hold us over until we got lunch.

  • we taxi’d to the mall somehow which was very confusing with our broken Spanish, but we somehow made it work. once arriving at the mall we got lunch and then went to a cafe to get WiFi! (we are allowed to get our phones back on the weekends, but we have to travel to get WiFi.)

  • after lunch I had a very cool God convo with my teammates and it was really really amazing. thank you Jesus for EVERYTHING.

  • we headed out of the mall around 5, taxied to the bus station, and walked to the grocery store to buy dinner plus all three meals for tomorrow. it was $19.50 all together!

  • we got home and cooked together with a lot of the of the girls and it was INCREDIBLE. we jammed hard to music and just enjoyed fellowship and community and singing with one another. I loved every second.

  • after dinner I answered my journey marker questions for the week (questions to mark our journey on the race) and just hanged with others painting, singing, reading the word, and enjoying being with my squad. I love my squad.

  • now I’m writing my blog (because I procrastinate) and I’m just enjoying being with others!

I love y’all. thank you for making this possible. my ministry for this week and the rest of the two months is working with special needs adults and I’m so excited. I can’t wait to update you on how it goes. so much love!
